Fatal collision in North Melbourne

A pedestrian has died following a fatal collision in North Melbourne this afternoon.

It is believed a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian on Flemington Road just after 2.40pm.

The rider and pedestrian were both transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Sadly, the pedestrian, who is yet to be formally identified, died in hospital.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined at this stage.

Man arrested following Healesville serious assault

Yarra Ranges Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following a serious assault in Healesville on Sunday morning.

Police were told two groups of men were involved in an altercation, in a carpark at the intersection of River and Church Street, where a teen was seriously injured about 3.20am.

A 22-year-old Glenburn man was arrested today and charged with four offences, including intentionally causing serious injury, affray and related assaults.

He has been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 30 November.

The 17-year-old Diamond Creek boy remains in a critical condition.

Homicide Squad to investigate Coburg death

Homicide Squad detectives are now investigating the death of an 87-year-old Coburg man following a serious assault that occurred earlier this month.

The man was located inside a property on Reynard Street on Wednesday 11 November, just before 11pm.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries however he died this morning.

A 56-year-old Kurunjang man and a 45-year-old Morwell woman who were located at the scene on the evening of the assault were spoken to by police.

They were released without charge and it is understood all parties were known to each other.

Unlicenced driver nabbed 100km/h over limit

A 19-year-old woman, who has never held a drivers’ licence, has been caught in Altona travelling at 168km/h in a 60km/h zone.

West Gate Highway Patrol spotted a Holden Commodore allegedly travelling at high speed along Millers Road last night about 11.45pm.

The sedan had no rear registration plate and was allegedly displaying a stolen front registration plate.

The Highway Patrol members were astounded to discover the Meadow Heights woman had never held a Victorian drivers’ licence and travelling at such high speed.

The woman’s car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $932.40.

The driver has been charged with a variety of offences including reckless conduct endangering life, dangerous speed, unlicensed driving and handling stolen goods.

She has been bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court next year.

This arrest forms part of Operation Compass, a road policing operation aimed at keeping the community safe on Victorian roads.

Police continue to use an intelligence-based approach to target locations and major arterials law-breaking drivers are expected to be, as people from metro Melbourne head to regional Victoria. This includes behaviour such as speeding, drink and drug driving, people not wearing seatbelts, mobile phone use and fatigue.

Joseph Edwards wanted on warrant

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate Joseph Edwards.

The 31-year-old is wanted on warrant in relation to weapons offences.

Edwards is described as Caucasian, with a medium build, green eyes, bald, and has a tanned complexion.

He is known to frequent the north western suburbs of Melbourne.

Investigators have released an image of Edwards in the hope someone may have information on his current whereabouts.

Uniformed officers from Ararat located and seized more than 40kg of suspected cannabis after intercepting a car in Ararat late last night.

The officers noticed the dark coloured BMW acting suspiciously in the vicinity of a fast food store, at the corner of High and Collings streets, about 11.45pm.

Police pulled the car over on High Street near Vincent Street before a strong aroma of suspected cannabis was noticed coming from the vehicle.

During a search of the car officers located three garbage bags of suspected cannabis in vacuum sealed packages.

It is believed the street value of the cannabis is in excess of $800,000.

A 55-year-old Braybrook man and a man from Sunshine North were both arrested and are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

The two Vietnamese nationals are expected to appear in court today to face charges including traffick a commercial quantity of drugs and possess cannabis.

Police seek public assistance after man head-butted in Safety Beach

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted in Safety Beach last month.

Investigators were told an unidentified man approached an on-duty security guard and verbally abused him before pushing and head-butting him outside the front of a marina on Marine Drive about 10.15pm.

The victim, a 19-year-old Lyndhurst man, sustained minor injuries during the incident.

Police have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is described as 185cm tall, messy brown hair, aged between 30 and 40 years-of-age wearing a green jacket, black track pants, black pull-on boots and was carrying a fishing rod.

Leading senior constable charged with sexual assault

A western region police officer has been charged following an investigation into an incident in April.

The leading senior constable has been charged with rape, six counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual activity directed at another.

The incident occurred while the officer was off duty.

He has been summonsed to appear at a Magistrates’ court at a later date.

Man charged following St Kilda assault

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged serious assault at an outdoor dining venue in St Kilda earlier this month.

The 30-year-old man was arrested this morning following an investigation into the incident that occurred on 12 November.

He has been charged with one count of affray, two counts of intentionally cause injury and two counts of recklessly cause injury.

The St Kilda man was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 14 January 2021.

Search for missing man Marc Centofanti

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing Point Cook man Marc Centofanti.

The 42-year-old was last seen at an address on Zeta Crescent this morning about 8am.

Police and family hold concerns for Marc’s welfare.

Marc is 187cm tall with a slim build and has dark coloured hair which is thinning on top.

At the time, Marc was wearing a dark blue polo shirt and grey golf pants.

He is believed to be travelling in a green Skoda Karoq with registration AYP955.

Investigators have released a photo of Marc in the hope someone may recognise him and be able to provide information on his whereabouts.
