The 11th National Road Safety Week kicks off today, encouraging all Australians to pledge to drive so others survive.
The Albanese Government urges everyone to play their part to reduce the toll of road trauma on our nation.
Whether you are a driver, a passenger, or other road user, road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
This week is a timely reminder that far too many Australians are still being killed or injured on our roads, which has a devastating effect on family, friends, first responders and the community.
More than 1,200 Australians have tragically lost their lives on our roads in the 12 months to March this year – a toll that we all need to work together to reduce.
Starting today and running until Sunday 12 May, each day has a different theme to promote road safety, including remembering those that have been killed on the roads, making the road safety pledge, sharing the street and taking care on regional roads.

“This includes through our $43.6 million National Road Safety Action Grants Program, which is starting to roll out to support community education and awareness, First Nations road safety, vulnerable road users, technology, innovation and research.
